Ajijic, is a pictured and beautiful small town, located right on Lake Chapala is very relaxing. You can count on many activities and be only as busy as you desire. Enjoy learning the Mexican culture and traditions, great gastronomy, recreational areas and parks.

There are many organizations that specialize in specific activities such as gardening, gourmet clubs, ham radios, computer groups, charities, art and political, etc. You can rent dune buggies, row boats, bicycles, and horses. There is a variety of beautiful, reasonably priced, fresh vegetables and fruits that will add to your well being.

The Square is the heart of the town of Ajijic. On the weekend there are bands that play for the enjoyment of all. During the summer months parents take their children to the square each night to have some ice cream. Oh, what ice cream it is! I can highly recommend that a trip to the Square is a must for anyone who wants to enjoy the Mexican way of life in Ajijic.

If you are planning for retirement and thinking about Mexico, consider the sunny northern shore of Lake Chapala, Mexico's largest freshwater lake. With a community of more than 7,000 seasonal and full time foreign residents who call "Lakeside" home, Ajijic (ah-hee-heek) has one of the world's two best climates and a low cost of living. This pre-colonial village in Western Mexico's Sierra Madre mountains makes for unparalleled living in a quaint Mexican village with all the services and amenities of lovely Guadalajara, Mexico's second-largest city, only about 45 minutes away. Ajijic ( ah-hee-heek) is only 2.5 hours to the coastal beaches south of Manzanillo, 3 hours to Manzanillo itself, and 4.5 hours from Puerto Vallarta.

Ajijic has numerous active social groups in the area including The Lake Chapala Society, with more than 3,100 members, bridge clubs, garden clubs, the American Legion, and the Lakeside Little Theater, to name a few of the more than 40 active clubs and charitable organizations. A variety of classes, including art, handicrafts, music and, of course, español, are available, as well as sports such as tennis, golf, walking, boating and fishing! The concerts, art galleries, and restaurants will delight your senses. Why Not Give Mexico a Try?

Living outside of once home country can be the most rewarding and enjoyable time of once life. Chapala, embedded in the central part of Jalisco, is "a place of flower vases of fragrant clay and small earthenware pots", known also as "The Wet or Soaked Place" or "A Place for Ducking into the Water" this is the town after which Mexico's most important lake was named.
